UNM Women’s standout Claire Lynch joins NM Rush Coaching staff

Former Lobo and New Mexico Rush Alum Claire Lynch is returning to the club that jump-start her career.

Today, New Mexico Rush Technical Director Justin Sells announced that the former All-Mountain West Conference player will become a director for all the club’s girls’ teams

“Claire was a remarkable player at every level she played,” Sells said. “I have no doubt her work ethic will carry on in her coaching career and serve as an example to all of the young women in our club.”

Lynch started playing for Rush when she was 13 and help lead the club to two state cups. She earned a full ride scholarship to the University of New Mexico and scored 22 goals for the Lobos.

She also played for New Mexico’s first ever semi-pro women’s team, Albuquerque FC.

“I am so excited to be able to give back to club that got me where I am at,” Lynch said. “My goal is to have time with every girl in the club and help them develop.”

Lynch will be conducting training sessions with all the NM Rush girls. She will be doing player evaluations, attending games, and assisting coaches with skill development.

NM Rush will be kicking off its inaugural season in the national Girls Developmental Player League this Fall.

“Joining DPL and adding Claire is taking our girls program to the next level,” Sells said. “The sky is the limit for any girl who plays for Rush.”
