COLORADO RUSH BECOMES FOURTH USL LEAGUE TWO TEAM BACKED BY RUSH SOCCER

The United Soccer League (USL) announced yesterday that Colorado Rush will join USL League Two for the 2020 season. The club will compete in the Mountain Division.

“We are extremely excited to be joining League Two,” said Colorado Rush Director of Coaching Joe Webb. “This league has been the proven leader for aspiring pros for so many years, and now it will play an essential part in providing that pathway for our players within the Rush organization.”

Based in Littleton, Colorado, the Rush organization serves more than 5,000 youth soccer players. Since 1998, Colorado Rush competitive teams have won 12 United States Youth Soccer National Championships, one US Club Soccer National Championship, and the Elite Clubs National League Championship in 2012.

“The Rush are a prominent organization nationwide, and we’re excited to work with them in Colorado to expand the path to professional soccer for their players,” said Joel Nash, Vice President of USL League Two. “The addition of a League Two team at the top of their development system will represent a major stepping stone for the club’s young players to strive toward.”

Across the country Rush Soccer’s male players are now given four opportunities to continue their pathway with Rush into the professional development system by being involved with one of its four teams connected to the Rush global soccer brand. The teams backed by Rush are (1) Cedar Stars Rush, (2) Daytona Rush, (3) Virginia Beach United, and now (4) Colorado Rush.

Justin Miller, Rush Soccer’s Director of Operations, stated, “We are so excited to have this connection with Colorado Rush as it adds to the opportunities for our players and gives Rush Soccer a fourth USL League Two partnership going into this new year. We look forward to seeing how these teams compete in the upcoming season!”

In joining League Two, Colorado Rush’s coaches and ownership--along with the other three USL League Two Rush teams--will offer a proven path to professional soccer for its players, both those at the elite collegiate level and the top academy-age players from the region. In addition to the valuable experience of playing in the nation’s most competitive pre-professional environment, League Two also provides growth opportunities for its coaches, executives and communities.
