Rush Soccer Gains Momentum In Puerto Rico

PR-RUSH-CORTI-CALVANO

Rush Soccer’s Director of International Affairs Tiago Calvano and Director of Coach & Player Development Davide Corti spent time in early March traveling the Puerto Rico to introduce the Rush Way to new partners and clubs on the island.

Calvano recaps the importance and purpose of their travels:

“The first objective of the trip was to implement coach education with our existing club Clube Atletico San Juan Rush. Davide Corti did a very good job and the club is already requesting a new visit to continue the program; they are very happy. The club also received Capelli uniforms. Delivery was on time, and they were pleased with good service from Capelli.”

Technical Directors of San Juan Rush Football Club, Germán Lubary and Diego Lucchesi, expressed their satisfaction and excitement for the affiliation to Rush Soccer Club as it provides the club and its players with opportunities never before considered.

Lubary expressed, "We’ve had a solid track record since we started in 2011, not only with good results in the tournaments we participate in, but also retaining players and developing their talents so they can receive university scholarships or be invited to play in international clubs. Now with Rush, these opportunities expand with access to more resources.”

Lucchesi added, "Rush complements the program that already worked in our club and places our coaches and players in a better position to continue their development through the assistance of international technical experts and through the participation in national and international tournaments.”

Corti enjoyed the opportunity to teach and mentor the staff and coaches in San Juan:

“I had a coach education session inside a Cantina that, when translated, means the coffee shop of the stadium with the staff of the coaches of San Juan Rush. It was an interesting week where Tiago and I met different people really interested in the Rush. Some of the clubs we met are really organized and other are trying to grow from the ground up. They really appreciated the kind of support Rush can give them based on their needs.

Tiago did an incredible work building for these people a really good map of who we are and what we do, and everyone in attendance seemed really tuned in and engaged. I touched a couple of interesting technical and methodological topics that the technical directors and coaches we spoke with really appreciated. We could eventually achieve a lot together if all the clubs we visited join the Rush.”

In addition to visiting the already existing San Juan Rush Soccer Club, Calvano and Corti spent time making connections with a few other clubs in the area. Calvano and Corti feel optimistic about the possibility of Rush gaining an even bigger presence on the island in the months ahead.
