Australia Rush Joins Rush Soccer

AUS-RUSH-1

Rush Soccer is excited to announce Australia Rush, the newest global partner. This expansion in Australia adds to the global footprint of Rush players across the world, with the number of players rising from the consistent 35,000 who have been wearing the Rush “R” worldwide. The name of the newest partner club is Broadmeadow Magic Junior Rush.

Tiago Calvano, Director of International Affairs, shares how the relationship between this club is connected to his former days of playing professionally in Australia for the Newcastle Jets,

“This partnership is very important to me as this club is in the city of Newcastle.  During my time playing for the Newcastle Jets I had the opportunity to play pre-season friendlies matches against this club and I ended up making a lot of friends there.  My friend, Roy Capitao, is part of the committee at the club and his kids play there too. I was talking to him about Rush and all the opportunities we provide for the kids and he loved the structure and Rush Way Philosophy.

When I visited Australia last November, Roy took me to the club and introduced me to the president at Broadmeadow, Joseph Lyovic, and to Jim Kacev, another committee member.  They loved the idea of becoming Rush partners as they have high interest in traveling from Australia to stay at the Titan House in Colorado to play games and be exposed to some college coaches.  They want to help their players get scholarships so they can play soccer and receive a good education in the States. This club has already produced a couple strong players who have turned professional and played in the A league in Australia.  As they continue to coach the 250 kids they currently have, their hope is to generate more avenues for their players to be successful at the next level.”

Australia Rush is the most recent expansion of Rush Soccer, following the trend of other recent expansions in Puerto Rico, Brazil, and Haiti where Calvano has worked to build connections and share the benefits and opportunities Rush Soccer offers. Beyond the immediate sharing of programming and club philosophy, the expansions provide opportunity for Rush players to experience various cultures while enjoying the unifying aspect of meeting players across the world that compete in the Rush “R”, together.
